I still cannot believe I have been here for five weeks! The weeks are dwindling down, and part of me is ready to be back for American food and an American shower!! The other half (more than half) is going to have a very hard time saying goodbye. But thankfully it will not be a goodbye, but a "see you later"!
I realized yesterday that although I have been updating my blog, I have not shared any funny stories lately! So here are a few...
Millie is 2 years old! She is Stacie's goddaughter, and she lives here with her mom Assefie. Anyway, Millie is a ham! Every morning I wake up I hear "Ashie (because she can't say Ashley) I missed you....I wove you!" She is so stinkin cute!! Last week, I was reading a book in my bed, and the next thing I kow Millie has climbed on the bed with me. She had a comb in her hand, and she kept asking me in Creole if she could braid my hair. She is 2, so of course she cannot really braid, but she went to brushing my hair. Every few minutes she would jerk my head and say turn, so she could reach the side of my hair! It was so funny, and it almost put me to sleep!! She has gotten in the habit lately of telling us "I wove you" when she knows she is being disciplined! We have to just keep a straight face in front of her, and then walk away and laugh! :)
Also on Friday I taught a mini English lesson. It was so neat to hear the kids say their alphabet, numbers to 10, and greetings in English. They are really good at it too! The funny part came when we got to the greetings. I said, "Hello, My name is Ashley" to which all the kids responded "Hello, My name is Ashley". I could not help but start laughing!! Apparently, we have 40 kids with the name Ashley now! After we all laughed, Fritznel explained that they were supposed to say their name in the blank!
On a Spiritual note, God has been blessing Empowering Haitian Moms with lots of people!! We have had like 13-18 moms in the past few days, and almost 40 kids! Praise the Lord! Thank you all for praying for Jesus' name to be spread! God is working!!
I also updated the EHM Sponsorship Kids on my Facebook page today! Now you can find the child's name, age, and grade next year on their photo under the Album EHM Sponsorship Kids! Please be sure to check it out, and pray about sponsoring one of these precious babies!! If you need more information, please feel free to contact me or Stacie!
On some of the kids' pictures you will notice that it says 1st year of Kindergarten, 2nd year of Kindergarten, or 3rd year of Kindergarten. This is because in Haiti the kids go through 3 years of Kindergarten, then they graduate and move on to 1st, 2nd, etc.. Just a little Haiti fact for you all!!
Blessings and Love!
Ashley
